Sophie Song
Xiaofei (Sophie) Song is a dancer, choreographer, and movement educator whose work bridges contemporary dance, modern technique, ballet, and folk dances. She has performed professionally with Yan-Zhao Performing Arts in China and Mei/Co. Dance in College Station, TX, as well as in a range of independent, project-based works, and her choreography has been presented in musical theatre and stage-based productions.
Her training includes three years of full-time vocational study in Chinese classical and folk dance, along with dedicated ballet training through Avant Chamber Ballet. Her modern and contemporary training has been shaped through company work and collaborative projects. She has performed works by David Ollington, Laura Vallejo, Meggie Belisle, and Amita Batra, and has studied with artists including Jennifer Mabus, Katie Puder, Shawn Stevens, and Joshua Brooksher. She also brings experience in modeling, informing her sense of embodiment, clarity, and stage presence.
She has taught pre-professional students and adult movers across a range of ages and experience levels. Her teaching emphasizes musicality, grounded movement, clarity of intention, and expressive range.
